Visit from Grandma B!

My mom came to visit this past weekend and we had a nice weekend.  Friday night before she got here, Sawyer was going to town chewing on her toes and had a good time playing in the bath!

Saturday morning we just hung out and played with Sawyer.  My mom watched Sawyer while I got my hair done in the afternoon and then we did some shopping.  We found an adorable dress for Sawyer to wear on Easter and some cute summer clothes at well!  I also invested in a few more drool bibs.  They are becoming a regular part of her outfit!  Thanks teeth...

Saturday night after Sawyer was asleep, we watched some old episodes of Duck Dynasty and enjoyed a little treat from Dairy Queen :)

Sunday came too quick and it was time for mom to go back to WI but we drove over to Rochester and hit up Trader Joe's before she headed home.  Over the past few weeks I've been trying really hard to make the food in our pantry and our freezer for dinner.  Our upstairs freezer has been overtaken by milk for Sawyer and is soon to be invaded some more with homemade baby food so needless to say, we're running out of room!  We've been doing a great job making room in the chest freezer until we went to Trader Joe's and now it's packed again.  At least it's yummy food from Trader Joe's and we'll be set for a little while now and can start eating away at the freezer stash again!

Teething

We've been thinking Sawyer was teething for a few weeks now, but this past week, we really thought that was the case and we were right!  She hasn't been eating very well at daycare and even sometimes at home (except during the middle of the night, then she eats like a champ...).  She's had some super runny diapers, per our daycare provider (thanks for saving those for daycare Sawyer!  And she chews on everything.  If she doesn't have a toy, then she chews on her fingers.  She's been chewing for a while, but it's been not stop.  And the drool?  It's only a matter of seconds and her shirt is soaked.

She had a bib on most of the afternoon yesterday but I hadn't put one back on her and it didn't take long for her shirt to get soaked!

Toothless mouth.  If only I could get another shot like this, we could maybe see her tooth!

Oh boy...droooool!

She looks like a new baby right?  Just kidding.  Sawyer decided to get up at 5:15 this morning and I wasn't overly excited about it.  I thought I'd feed her and try to get her to go back to sleep but she wasn't having it because she had big news!  Her first tooth came through overnight.  All that chewing yesterday paid off.

Big girls get teeth and they sit!  She's still super wobbly and unless she's really concentrating she still folds in half like a taco but she's made huge progress in the past couple days!  Even while sitting she can't leave those fingers out of her mouth ;)

I want to get a picture of the tooth so bad but it's impossible.  Between the drool and Sawyer constantly sticking her tongue out, she isn't having it.  Hopefully once it makes it way further up I can snap a shot.  Here's to hoping the next twenty some teeth come in as easily.  For some reason I doubt they will...

Visitors

Yesterday Jeremy's parents and grandma came down to visit us.  Sawyer was in a great mood even though she was apparently doing some serious teething and was not interested in taking naps (unless being held of course).  Here are a few pictures from their visit.

Silly girl

Sawyer has such a fun loving personality!  She is such a happy baby.  It doesn't take much to make her laugh and listening to her laugh is one of my favorite things!  I could listen to that laugh all day :)  Between her laugh and her smile, I'm not sure which one I love more.  Lately she has been loving to stick out her tongue and blows lots of spit bubbles.  She gets a little carried away sometimes and I get a spit shower!

Trip to Cambridge

Last weekend we headed over to Cambridge.  Jeremy went to the Badger vs. St Cloud hockey game on Saturday night with his cousins, brother in a law and a couple other friends so Sawyer and I tagged along and spent the weekend at my mom's!

We left work a couple of hours early so we could get a head start on the long drive and get there early enough to not totally throw Sawyer's bedtime off!  She does much better in her car seat than she used to but she isn't much of a car sleeper.  Out of the 8 hours we were in the car, she maybe slept 3 1/2 of it.  Our leaving early did keep her a little more on track and she actually slept through the night that night :)  It's great when she does sleep through but I can handle the once a night wakings we've been having lately, it's those 2-3 times a night that get ya!

Saturday we took Jeremy into Madison to meet up with the guys and we went to a little cupcake shop called Gigi's Cupcakes.  They were delicious!  Mom, Matt and I split a box of them basically trying all the different cupcakes in the box and then I got a few to take home afterwards :)  They also had some mini cupcakes which I took into work for my teammates.  I can't believe I didn't take a picture of them...very disappointed in myself.  Guess we'll have to go back again next time!

After the cupcake shop, we went downtown to a little shop which I don't even know the name of.  It was raining and it took us forever to find a parking spot so that was the only shop we made it into.  We had to return a pair of shoes for Sawyer so we could get a bigger size and I got a new wallet!  I no longer carry a purse and I just throw my wallet in my laptop bag for work or the diaper bag so I needed a wallet that could hold my junk and stay shut.  My old one wasn't staying shut anymore and that just won't cutting it since I never have a purse.  So far, I love my new wallet :)

Saturday night we enjoyed some Papa Murphy's pizza and mom and I watched a movie.  Well, mom watched the movie.  I tried really hard to keep my eyes open but I lost the battle.  I knew I wouldn't make it since I was curled up on my mom's bed.  I'm sure it was a great movie :)

Sunday Sawyer and I headed out around noon to pick Jeremy up in Madison and head home.  I'm really ready for spring because the drive home stunk!  It was raining when we left, then it was pouring, we got a little break around the dells but then once we hit Tomah it was pouring again and when we got to Rochester it was snow.  Yuck!!  I'm ready for warmer days :)

Sawyer has started laughing at Maple within the past month.  Maple will just come by her and she starts laughing.  She also thinks it's really funny when Maple licks her hands (me, not so much).  Here is a video of her laughing at Maple, Libby and Zoe playing.

Sawyer - 5 months!

I think each month is going faster and faster!  Our little Sawyer is growing so quickly right before our eyes!

She is working on rolling over from back to tummy now but just can't get over her arm!  Soon enough I'm sure :)

At 5 months old...

-Sawyer is just our little ray of sunshine!  She is truly a happy baby.  Very smiley and giggly and we just love that about her!

-At the same token, she let's you know when she doesn't like something, especially the way she's being held.  Let's just say she's got both of us wrapped around her little finger :)

-She's still in 6 month clothes, at least for a couple more weeks.  She weighed in at 15 lbs 2 ounces a few days before she was 5 months old.

-Still in size 2 diapers.

-She has been having some blow outs lately!  I had a fun time cleaning her in the Kwik Trip bathroom on the way home from the dells.  Poop up to her shoulders.  How can there be so much poop?

-Tries pulling herself up into a sitting position but can't keep herself sitting once we help her get there.  

-Grabs everything within reach and puts it in her mouth.  Everything.

-Her hands are her favorite thing to chew on.  She's even started trying to chew on my hands.

-Loves blowing bubbles and making raspberry sounds with her mouth.

-Recently started playing with her tongue and actually chewing on it!  Such a goof.

-Bath time is still a favorite and we're past the stage of her crying when she gets out.  She loves splashing around and playing with her toes in the tub.

-Her hair is coming in and it's red!  Plus I'm pretty sure it's going to be curly.  The water from the bath springs the back of her hair right up.  Lucky girl has her mommy's hair :)

-Sawyer is a cat napper.  She was taking 4-5 naps a day earlier in the month and now she's down to 3-4 naps with an earlier bedtime.  She takes a couple short naps and a 1 1/2-2 hour nap at daycare but on the weekends, an hour is typically the longest I can get out of her, unless she's being held.  Amazing how different daycare vs. home is.  She sure knows the difference!  Maybe someday she'll nap as well at home as she does at daycare.  Guess she just wants to spend as much time with mom and dad as she can :)

-Nighttime has been inconsistent this past month.  We've been working on breaking the swaddle and she's been swaddled with one arm out since mid-January at night and she doesn't have a swaddle at daycare for naps.  We also gave up the swaddle for naps at home so we thought let's try to get the other arm out at night.  After a week and a half of getting up 2-3 times a night, she is now swaddled again.  Apparently she likes it more than we thought!  We'll try again in a couple of weeks to break it, but until then, I'll take the consecutive hours of sleep when I can get it.  She slept 10 1/2 hours straight on Saturday night which was a record for her.  I got 9 hours of sleep, it's been a LONG time since I got that much sleep.  I felt like a new woman :)  Then last night, 3-4:15 am was awake time...really?  I'm just accepting the fact that regular sleep may not be in the cards for a while.  

Time, can you slow down so we can keep our baby a baby a little longer?  It's hard to believe she'll be 6 months old soon!  These past 5 months have been amazing and being a parent has been both challenging and so rewarding.  I wouldn't trade it for anything!
