Laughter

A day without laughter is a day wasted.

Sawyer and I had so much fun playing on her blanket today.  She has the cutest smile and laugh!  The one picture is a little blurry but you can tell she is laughing so I had to post it :)  I have one more day left of my maternity leave and plan on playing with and holding my little girl the whole day!  She is really starting to have a personality and it's fun watching her grow and figure new things out every day.  In the past week or so she discovered her hands and she really likes to suck on them!  She just found her feet the other day and likes to stare at them or pull on her pants like she's trying to grab them too.  Oh how fast she's grown over the past eleven weeks!

The Weekend

This past weekend my mom came to visit and watched Sawyer while Jeremy and I went on a little date!  Since I've been on maternity leave, I've read all four of the Twilight books and we've watched the movies together so we went out on Saturday night to watch Breaking Dawn Part Two.  I really liked the books and thought the movies were good too!  It was kind of funny after we watched one of the movies Jeremy stated he liked the werewolf better than the vampire and I said, "oh so you're team Jacob" and he had no clue what I was talking about :)

I'm not going to lie, it was tough leaving Sawyer.  I've left her before to run to the store to play volleyball or go to book club so I'm not sure why it was so hard this time?  Possibly because I'm going back to work in a couple of days or because I was leaving her with someone other than Jeremy (not that I don't love and trust my mom, it's just different!).  Anyway, Sawyer did perfectly fine with Grandma B, they were having a good ole time when we got home :)

Mom and I also spent a lot of time on Saturday and Sunday morning making the Chocolate Peanut Butter Torte that I was planning to make for Jeremy's birthday.  Honestly, it's a good thing I didn't have the pan, I probably would have messed it up without my mom being there to help me make it!

Happy birthday again Jeremy!

The finished product.

It was so yummy!

Happy Holidays!

Our lives lately

First of all, I had a little formatting issue with my blog.  I clicked on something that erased all my formatting and I can't figure out how to get it back. So, the blog has a new, simplier look (I stole some inspiration on the blog header from Andrea's blog - hope you don't mind!).

Sawyer was 10 weeks old on Tuesday! She weighed in at 12 lbs at her weekly weigh in - she's growing great! I still can't believe the time has gone so fast. This was the last full week of my maternity leave and I go back to work on Wednesday :( I've been spending tons of time cuddling our little girl but we've also been working on somewhat of a sleep routine since I won't be able to takes naps when I need them anymore! Plus she's taking naps in her crib now instead of her rock n' play sleeper so that's been good too. I wish I could say it's going amazing but it's not. She likes to take a long morning nap but then basically fights them the rest of the day. Hopefully our daycare provider has better luck getting her to nap than I do. Also, I think her "wake clock" is stuck around 4 am because no matter what time I feed her and put her down for the night, she still gets up at 4 am! This won't be good because that means I'll be getting up at 4 am every morning as I won't have time to feed her and go back to sleep before I have to get up for the day. Let's hope I can get her "wake clock" changed to 6 am sooner than later so I can function when I'm back at work :) This will be attempted over the weekend...wish me luck!

This week Jeremy and I got back into the sports routine. I played volleyball for the first time on Monday and he and some buddies started playing in a dodgeball leauge last night! I'd like to go watch but I don't think that will be possible with Sawyer as the balls fly everywhere and some lady watching last night got hit in the head. Not a good idea so I'll have to wait to see him play some other time - I'm mostly curious to see how the games actually go! It was fun getting back out there and playing volleyball and I'm looking forward to playing again next week!

Here are a few pictures of what we've been up to lately.

Sawyer and I cooking dinner.

Tummy time and Maple wanted to join in.  So adorable!

Sawyer met Santa for the first time at Cabelas!

Sawyer loves her daddy :)

More tummy time.

Sawyer's first Christmas Tree!

Bath time!  Sawyer enjoys the actual bath but lately has been crying once we take her out.

10 weeks old!!  Getting so strong :)

Back to enjoying my last few days of maternity leave.  Thank goodness for the holidays as I'm taking off Christmas Eve through New Years day.  My first week back of only 3 days shouldn't be too bad considering I have the next 7 working days off.

Happy Birthday Jeremy!

Tuesday was Jeremy's 28th birthday!  One year closer to the big 30 ;)  I had plans to make this awesome looking chocolate peanut butter torte but when I went to make it I didn't have a springfoam pan or enough time to let it chill if I were to have run out to buy one...guess we better read directions better the next time we pick out a cake!  Since we have all the ingredients, my mom is going to bring her pan with her this weekend so we will still get to make it for him (pictures to come once we make it)!  Thank goodness for Hyvee as the cake from there has been delicious the past couple days :)  We ordered carry out from Buffalo Wild Wings and had cake to celebrate.  Happy birthday babe!

Sawyer - Two Months

The past two months have just flown by! It's hard to remember life without this little girl around, she brings so much joy to our lives.

It's amazing how much she's changed in just one month!  She has plumped out nicely and her color is much better (no more jaundice!).  Here are her 2 month stats:

Weight:  11 pounds 7 ounces (64th percentile)
Height:  23 inches (74th percentile)
Head Circumference:  15 inches (35th percentile)

Poor thing had her first round of shots today but she was pretty tough.  She took the liquid one great but squealed pretty bad when she was got the 3 shots in her legs.  Can you blame her?  I don't even like shots myself!  I felt so bad for her but was able to hold back the tears when all it took was for me to pick her up for her to calm down.  She's napping right now so we'll see how the rest of the day goes for her.

All done with her shots and has a full tummy.  Way to go Sawyer!

At 2 months old...
-she goes 4-6 hours between feedings at night.  Hopefully this stretches out some more once I go back to work.  We're working on a routine at night and in the morning so hopefully that will help!
-she's still a cuddler, which I love!
-is still wearing size 1 diapers but has quickly outgrown her 0-3 month clothes and won't be able to wear to 3 month clothes much longer!
-her hair is getting more red by the day!  It's so cute :)
-still enjoys her baths.
-has way more alert time during the day.  She's so fun to play with as she makes tons of noises and facial expressions!  It's great seeing her personality start to come out :)
-we're working on the bottle so she takes it decently at day care.  We've given her one here and there but not constantly so it's never fun the first time we reintroduce it.  Jeremy did a great job giving it to her yesterday!  She was pretty upset but took it just fine once she finally calmed down.
-doesn't really like being put in her car seat but she's usually doesn't mind it once she's moving.
-she's getting better at holding her head during tummy time but doesn't always love it.  She's great at holding her head otherwise though!

I only have 16 more days of my maternity leave left so I'm going to cherish each day I have to spend with her!  I'm definitely going to miss the extra snuggle time!  Lucky for me, I'm only going back for 3 days of work and then I have the next 7 working days off :) Thank you holidays!!

Christmas Photo Shoot!

Rose came to visit this past weekend and we had so much fun!  She was also kind enough to take a bunch of pictures for us to use for our Christmas card.  Here are some of my favorites that we didn't use on the card.

Love this girls baby blue eyes!

It was so cute when Maple jumped up by Sawyer, I guess she wanted to be in the pictures too!

Grandma B got Sawyer a Santa hat, but it's a little big this year!

 What a cute little tushy!!

 Working on that smile :)

So lucky to have this little girl in our lives!

She sure loves sticking her tongue out.  Hopefully she outgrows that even though it's cute now!

Full family picture!

Rose and I also did some baking yesterday.  Love having cookies in the house although they never last very long :)  Thanks for visiting Rose!!
