And yet another month has come and gone! With it being summer, I know the next few months are going to go even fast so i'm doing my best to cherish every moment as Sawyer grows and changes.
She has changed so much in the past 8 months and soon she won't be our baby anymore!
At 8 months...
-Sawyer weighs ~ 18 lbs 1 oz
-Is wearing mostly 9 month clothes but still fits into some 6-9 month shirts
-Wears size 3 diapers
-Has her two bottom teeth although the top ones have been making their way down for the past month.
-Loves sitting any playing with toys.
-In the last week or so she's really been wanting to stand up on everything. She isn't able to pull herself up but once we prop her up, she can hold her own for a few minutes sometimes.
-I'm starting to think she isn't that interested in crawling simply due to the fact that she always want to stand and doesn't love being on her tummy. Maybe she'll skip crawling? Who knows. We'll keep giving her the opportunity to try to crawl, but I'm not pushing it. I like the immobility right now and the second she figures out how to move, it's going to be a whole new ball game!
-We have officially moved on from the swaddle! We moved her into the Merlin Magic Sleep Suit a couple of days after turning 7 months and she's been doing great in it. She still gets up to eat once a night (except when she was sick, then it was twice) but that was the same in the swaddle so I think it's a step in the right direction! Next step is breaking the sleep suit :) Unless she tries rolling over in the suit, I think we'll start trying to break this at 9 months.
-Still isn't loving solids or bottles. She likes her mama's milk I guess. She had a pretty nasty cold on top of teething and she had even less interest in eating any solids during that time period than she normally does so we didn't even offer them for a while. Every once and a while we do come across something she likes, and this month it was mashed potatoes! We tried those this past week and they seemed to be a hit. She is starting solids at daycare this month too so hopefully we can find some more favorites!
-Earlier in the month we started giving her puffs and yogis and she was a pro at picking them up and putting them in her mouth!! She definitely has the pincer grasp down but once she gets them in her mouth, she isn't always sure she wants to eat them.
-We've starting playing peek-a-boo more often. We play with her tag blanket and cover her face and she pulls it off herself or we cover our own face and she pulls it off too. She loves it!
-Lots of baby babbles coming out of her mouth these days. Pretty much says "da-da" but no "ma-ma" yet. It will come :) At this age, it's just babbling anyway :)
-My hair, earrings and necklaces are no longer safe. She pulls on everything and puts it in her mouth. I might look into a nursing necklace to keep her occupied...
-She gives high fives and just giggles when she makes contact.
-Sometimes she'll lift her arm to wave or wiggle her fingers without lifting her arm.
-Just start lifting her arms above her head. Too cute!
-Chews everything. If she doesn't have a chew toy, her fingers or her bib do just fine.
-And my favorite, she lifts her arms to get picked up! When I pick her up from daycare, she basically throws herself at my with her arms out - its on of the best parts of my day!
We are just loving parenthood and feel so lucky to have such a fun loving little girl to call our own.
